Wiki best practice
From dKosopedia
A list of wiki best practices specific to political wikis focused on e-democracy and e-government, in which equal power relationships or transparency will generally outweigh any need to trust a central authority, is published at dowire.org. A more general list of process terms is built from this and other best practice and process model terminology.
These practices are in the order in which they are usually learned. Feel free to change this order:
- we
- edit
- be bold
- evil and stupid
- conserve capitals
- avoid anchor text
- disambiguate plurals
- disambiguate
- categorize pages and adopt target categories if copying pages
- mark undesirable temporary changes for now
- talk page
- user page
- community portal
- avoid new namespaces
- political virtues
- troll-friendly
- new troll point of view (NPOV)
- troll name
- meta page
- mark any explicit scope restrictions applying on this page with that link
- itself
- reflexive intranet
- add references
- topic naming conventions
- content equals schema - this makes DailyKos:tag cleanup very important!

- discourage sysop vandalism and sysop vigilantiism
- support mobility - especially important for political activists
- content over community - especially important for professional wikis
