The U.S. Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Forestry, Conservation and Rural Revitalization is one of four subcommittees of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.
The Agriculture committee has delegated jurisdiction to this subcommittee over legislation and federal programs relating to rural development, rural electrification, agricultural credit, crop insurance, forestry in general and forest reserves, soil conservation, stream channelization, and some watershed and flood control programs (those involving facilities with less than 4,000 acre-feet of storage capacity). Oversight responsibilities include related federal agencies, such as the Farm Credit System, the Farm Credit Administration, the Farmers Home Administration, and their successors.
The current ranking Democrat is Blanche Lincoln (AR), who is expected to take over its chair in 2007 from Mike Crapo (ID), the outgoing chairperson who will be returning in January, and is expected to be the ranking Minority member of the Subcommittee.
