The U.S. Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Production and Competitiveness is one of four subcommittees of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.
The Agriculture committee has delegated jurisdiction to this subcommittee over legislation relating to agricultural commodities, including cotton, dairy products, feed grains, wheat, tobacco, peanuts, sugar, wool, rice, oilseeds and soybeans and price and income support programs, and oversight responsibilities over enforcement, implementation and administration of said legislation.
The current ranking Democrat is Kent Conrad (ND), who is expected to take over its chair in 2007 from Mitch McConnell (KY), the outgoing chairperson who was defeated in his bid for reelection in the 2006 mid-term elections.
