Responsibilities
This subcommittee handles environmental protection and cleanup legislation, such as the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund). It is also officially charged with regulating noise pollution and "homeland security aspects" of environmental issues.
